Sunrise Announces National Veterans Day Campaign
MCLEAN, VA.—Sunrise Senior Living has launched a national campaign to honor the service of veterans, reminding them of the government benefits they may be entitled to receive. Events will be held at more than 300 Sunrise communities across the country this Veterans Day on November 11.
“Too many veterans and their families are unaware that they may be entitled to substantial benefits that could help offset the cost of living in a senior assisted living community,” said Kelly Myers, senior vice president of sales for Sunrise. “Each day, we serve more than 5,000 veterans who are residents in our communities. These families have made tremendous sacrifices for our country and they deserve to receive every benefit to which they are entitled.”
The most substantial benefit that many veterans are unaware of is for Aid and Attendance, which provides nearly $2,000 per month for a veteran or a surviving spouse to pay for assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, or eating. Many veterans who ordinarily would not qualify for a veterans pension because of their income may qualify for this benefit because medical expenses are deducted from the income calculation, Sunrise said in a release.
Veterans are invited to any Sunrise community on November 11 to receive a special gift as a token of Sunrise's appreciation for their service. Information on veterans benefits will also be available at each event so veterans and their families can learn more about what financial support options are available.
Sunrise has listed all participating communities on its Web site at this location.
