The New Wave of Foodservice Technology in Senior Care

Your thoughts on the creation of a national LTC insurance trust

Would you support the creation of a national insurance trust to help pay for long-term care? Comments:

– LTC insurance is available; the great problem is that it competes with “free” Medicaid!

– As a large percentage of our population ages, it is imperative that we plan for how their care will be funded.

– As I recall, back in the 1980s Medicare came out with a catastrophic insurance program that was roundly recalled b/c of seniors’ very negative reaction. Maybe things have changed.

– Only if the long-term care coverage (LTCC) also covers the non-medical help that many sometimes need, and the LTCC doesn’t mandate or encourage the usage of union labor or registries of caregivers and the reimbursement rate ensures the caregivers will have at least a minimum wage, workman’s comp insurance, liability insurance, and enough funding to ensure appropriate oversight of the caregiver to ensure there is no fraud or abuse happening. Explain your thoughts on a national insurance trust for long-term care in the comments below.
