Trouble at two Kansas City senior living facilities

Missing senior found dead

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who wandered away from a Kansas City, Mo. assisted living facility, reports KCTV-Kansas City. George Macias, 75, was found in a ravine Sunday evening after being missing for almost 12 hours in record heat. According to the report, Macias had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and had tried to leave the facility before.

Macias had been wearing an ankle-based monitor to prevent wandering from the Cherry Hills Nursing Home, but the device apparently manfunctioned, according to the Associated Press.

Bed bugs evict residents

Residents at another Kansas City-area senior facility, Paraclete Manor, have been evacuated so the facility can be treated for a bedbug infestation. Residents were asked to foot their own bill for alternate housing for the 24-48 hours it will take to treat the facility, according to KCTV-Kansas City.
