Three Rs dominate legislative overview at AHCA/NCAL conference
Reform, reimbursement, and regulatory issues were on the minds of speakers and attendees at Monday’s Legislative Overview session presented during the AHCA/NCAL 61st Annual Convention & Expo, held in Long Beach, California.
David Hebert, senior vice president, Policy and Government Relations, AHCA/NCAL, reported on his association’s very busy year, tackling issues ranging from the fallout of healthcare reform and the RUG-IV fix to Medicaid funding and Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP) extension.
He also challenged attendees to get involved in the issues that affect them and their constituents. “It’s important to have an army of advocates we can call on to carry our messages to Capitol Hill,” Hebert said.
When one audience member asked about the status of the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as the Card Check Act, Hebert said “It’s dead as a doornail,” to hearty applause.
