The magic kicks off at NADONA
In Kissimmee, Florida, the home of Disney World and other fantasies, the 2011 National Association Directors of Nursing Administration conference kicked off in grand style. With wands waving and anticipation in the air, the event opened with the Presentation of Colors by a local high school ROTC unit, followed by a parade of NADONA state chapter presidents.
The surprises didn’t stop there. In a moving tribute, the association presented a commendation to NADONA President Sherrie Dornberger. Her leadership and energy was acknowledged and appreciated by the association membership through this recognition.
In her opening remarks, Dornberger paralleled long-term care with The Wizard of Oz because they both exemplify the resources needed for success: heart, courage and brains. Having had her own health challenges over the past few years, Dornberger offered her membership this advice: “Be happy where you are and know that you make a difference.”
