Sunrise to host family caregiver events on World Alzheimer’s Day
More than 250 Sunrise Senior Living communities are hosting educational events for family caregivers this year on World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21, according to a company release.
The events, dubbed Resources to Remember, will include: a complimentary guide with tips on communicating to loved ones who have memory loss, a video demonstrating Sunrise's approach to memory care, and open forums with local Sunrise team members to help families understand the challenges their loved ones face.
“Understanding how to communicate effectively with people who have memory loss lets us validate their emotions and meet their basic needs for security, love and purpose,” said Rita Altman, vice president of Memory Care Services for Sunrise, in a release.
Sunrise serves more than 9,000 residents in its “Reminiscence neighborhoods,” specially designed for those with memory loss.
