Retracted source story: Verdugo Valley Skilled Nursing & Wellness Centre

On June 7, 2012, the Montrose-La Crescenta (Calif.) Patch published a news article incorrectly stating that Verdugo Valley Skilled Nursing & Wellness Centre in Montrose, Calif., had been found guilty of 11 abuse and neglect charges. The Patch story also incorrectly identified Brius Management as the owner of two other California facilities raided on June 7.

On June 11, 2012, Long-Term Living ran a news story titled “FBI, IRS raid Los Angeles County nursing facilities,” which used the Montrose Patch story as a primary source.

On Oct 2, 2012, Long-Term Living was informed that the Montrose Patch has retracted its original story. Out of fairness, we have removed our story from our website, since the source has retracted its information. We apologize to our readers for the inadvertent error.
