Renewed partnership advances antimicrobial wound care solutions

Two companies that have been instrumental in the development of wound care solutions through the use of an antimicrobial fabric have renewed their partnership. Scranton, Pa.-based Noble Fiber Technologies LLC and San Antonio, Texas-based KCI Manufacturing, an affiliate of Kinetic Concepts Inc., have signed a multi-year contract to continue the production and distribution of V.A.C. GranuFoam Silver Dressing.

In announcing the renewal of this partnership, Noble CEO Jeff Keane said, “Our vision is to be the premier provider of bacterial management solutions for health improvement applications. This continued partnership supports our mission to improve people’s lives and helps us provide solutions that touch countless patients and their families every day.”

The V.A.C. GranuFoam Silver Dressing uses Noble’s proprietary X-STATIC antimicrobial technology to create a barrier to bacterial penetration in those suffering from chronic, acute, sub-acute, traumatic, and dehisced wounds, partial thickness burns, ulcers, flaps and grafts and has shown to be effective in combatting more than 150 types of microorganisms including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Klebsiella pneumonia. Studies also have shown it to be effective in reducing the growth of antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria including MRSA and VRE.

Noble claims that its V.A.C. GranuFoam Silver Dressing provides 100 percent surface coverage even after sizing the dressing; delivers negative pressure; and allows the silver coated foam pores to come in direct contact with the wound, thus eliminating the need for additional silver dressing layers.
