The New Wave of Foodservice Technology in Senior Care

PointClickCare launches direct messaging tool

Ontario, Canada-based PointClickCare (PCC) has added a secure messaging feature to its electronic health record platform (EHR). The cloud-based mobile messaging system uses TLS/SSL encryption technologies to guarantee secure text messaging from mobile devices. The company partnered with Medicity, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based health information systems program (HISP) provider whose products have enabled providers to collaborate and coordinate care through secure and intuitive web-based tools for referral management, transitions of care and direct messaging from within an EHR.

PCC's direct messaging also stems from a partnership with TigerText, Santa Monica, Cailf., forged earlier this year.

Senior care providers and their acute care partners—including hospitals, practitioners and insurance payers—can now securely share residents' health information from within PointClickCare's core EHR. And any documents attached to these email messages can also be saved as part of a resident's medical record.

The feature also will help healthcare providers satisfy Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements covering the sending and receiving of transition-of-care documents.
