The New Wave of Foodservice Technology in Senior Care

PointClickCare debuts technology platform for assisted living

PointClickCare introduced its platform to address the increasing acuity, staffing and risk mitigation needs of assisted living providers at the Assisted Living Federation of America conference.

“The rising resident population and acuity levels in assisted living facilities [ALFs] across North America are creating new challenges this market has never seen before," says Mike Wessinger, the Mississauga, Ontario-based company's co-founder and CEO. “PointClickCare's senior care platform will help our customers address the 'acuity conundrum' with technology that empowers them to better manage and optimize their financial and care services performance.”

The platform can be accessed via smartphone or tablet to facilitate flexibility as workers access and input information throughout a facility, Dave Wessinger, the company's co-founder and chief technology officer, tells Long-Term Living. Workers especially appreciate access via smartphone because the device can be transported easily and stored in a pocket, and because it potentially represents less risk in terms of infection control and HIPAA, he adds.

Data collection can help bolster facility recommendations to residents and families regarding the provision of services and also can serve as a record of a facility's actions for legal purposes, Dave Wessinger says, adding that the system can be integrated with those of other service and healthcare providers.

Recently recognized as the number one long-term care software vendor by KLAS Research, PointClickCare offers a cloud-based, interoperable electronic health record and revenue cycle management platform with a variety of integrated applications for care delivery services management, financial management, marketing, business intelligence and quality and compliance. The technology is designed to allow ALFs to expand care services, strengthen market value and enhance financial and operational performance while improving resident outcomes.
