Pa. nursing homes recognized for excellence
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has recognized four nursing homes in the state’s new “Award for Excellence in Health Care Compliance” program. The facilities–Foulkeways at Gwynedd, Gwynedd; The Meadows at Shannondell, Audobon; the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville; and the Pennsylvania Hospital Skilled Care Center, Philadelphia—met and exceeded key measures.
All nursing homes in Pennsylvania were eligible for the award, but the criteria was a clean slate for deficiencies and quality assurances over the last three calendar years. Winners show no state citations, which are based on annual health survey inspections. The Department of Health’s Division of Nursing Care Facilities licenses and oversees 713 nursing homes in the state, performing about 5,000 inspections each year.
