Optimus EMR adds secure access, barcode verification to EHR
Irvine, Calif.-based Optimus EMR Inc. has announced that it will be adding new functionality to its electronic medical record.
When released in 2015, the clinical software improvements will include:
• An operating system-independent module that will allow clinicians to securely access the EMR remotely.
• An EPCS (electronic prescribing of controlled substances) function that will allow healthcare providers to electronically prescribe medications, including those classified as controlled substances.
• A bar code verification system for confirming that the right patient/resident has received the right medication at the right dose at the right time and by the right route.
