Nurses celebrate Nursing Home Week

Long-term care nurses have extra reasons to celebrate as two commemorations overlap this week: National Nurses Week (May 6-12) and National Nursing Home Week (May 8-14).

The National Nurses Week theme is “The culture of safety: It starts with you.” The American Nurses Association’s year-long Safety 360 campaign focuses on the role of every caregiver in the culture of safety, regardless of their job role.

National Nursing Home Week kicks off with a themed logo and tagline: “It’s a small world with a big heart,” inspired by the 1960s Disney song “It’s a Small World After All.” The American Health Care Association offers a downloadable PDF of suggested activities that engage residents, family and caregivers in multigenerational ways to say thanks to nurses and other nursing home staffers.

Thank you to all who provide care and aid to our older loved ones!
