LeadingAge names first senior VP of housing, capital
Editor's addendum: Read our exclusive interview with Niles Godes here.
Niles Godes has joined LeadingAge as its first senior vice president for housing and capital. He will work collaboratively with members of the national aging services provider association, policy makers and private-sector partners in an effort to expand affordable housing opportunities for older adults across the country.
“We created this position in response to the growing need for strategic leadership around advancing current and emerging affordable senior housing models and capital to support those models,” Larry Minnix, president and CEO of LeadingAge, said in a statement.
Godes has more than 20 years of experience advancing public policy in Washington. Before joining LeadingAge, he served as Democratic staff director of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee. Earlier in his career, he served as chief of staff for Sen. Byron Dorgan and director of economic development for Sen. Kent Conrad. Godes also has extensive advocacy experience in the private sector, representing organizations of all sizes, from small nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies.
“I am deeply committed to improving the lives of America’s older population,” Godes said. “No one who has spent a lifetime working, raising a family or serving as a caregiver should face the prospect of homelessness when they reach retirement age.”
Godes received his JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University, and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Minnesota State University–Moorhead. He is a member (inactive) of the Maryland Bar.
