CMS revamps Nursing Home Compare website
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated its Nursing Home Compare website with deeper data and simplified navigation. The tool also is available on a mobile platform.
Nursing Home Compare now includes the results of nursing home inspections, readmission rates and the use of antipsychotic drugs, as well as residents’ pain reports, infection rates and other quality measures.
The five-star rating system has garnered criticism since its introduction in 2008. The new version addresses some of the clinical and quality issues that have been at the fore, but the five-star rating system itself will stay in place for now.
The Nursing Home Compare website has logged more than 500,000 visits in the past six months, CMS says.
