New website helps employers navigate benefit changes under ACA
To educate small business owners and guide them through the process of complying with Affordable Care Act requirements, California business leaders have launched Health Law Guide for Business—a website funded by The California Endowment. The site provides information on compliance deadlines, health plan enrollment, healthcare tax credits for businesses and wellness and prevention programs for employees—and the entire text of the health reform law.
According to the ACA timetable, new employees and those who are eligible for employer-sponsored benefits are to receive a Uniform Summary of Benefits, beginning on September 23. Even if a company already offers a Summary Plan Document, the new Uniform Summary of Benefits must be added at the front of the document.
In an article, Senior Vice President of The California Endowment David Zingale said that the website will bring unbiased information on how the new healthcare law will affect small business.
