New dementia app designed for healthcare providers

The Alzheimer's Association is offering healthcare providers a free dementia app for both Apple and Android-based devices.

The Alzheimer's Disease Pocketcard app features interactive assessment tools and clinical information on the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

According to the association's website, all clinical information is organized into chapters so users can easily toggle back and forth from main topics to subtopics when needed.

Users can save bookmarks and personal notes by using the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. Those with iPhones or iPads can backup these items to their iCloud.

The app also allows physicians to access patient resources, such as educational topic sheets, which can be emailed directly to a patient or caregiver without leaving the app.
