MeHI awards $1M tech grants to 15 LTC organizations

The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) at MassTech has awarded 15 long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) organizations $1 million in total as a part of its eQuality Incentive Program (eQIP). The organizations oversee 44 facilities and 6,110 beds across the state. The funds will help the facilities invest in innovative health information technology (HIT) to improve patient care.

"Increased use of HIT means improved provider communication, which should lead to better integration between providers and, ultimately, enhanced patient care," Laurance Stuntz, director of MeHI, said in a press release. "Not only will these investments help protect patient safety, they will also allow LTPAC organizations to participate in Accountable Care Organizations and other strategic partnerships that will help streamline care, reduce unnecessary costs, and revolutionize health care delivery across Massachusetts."

By participating in the eQIP program, the organizations can advance their HIT use and connect to Mass HIway, the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE).
