MatrixCare partners with Johns Hopkins to reduce falls

Bloomington, Minn.-based MatrixCare has announced an agreement to license a falls-risk assessment tool from The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing, a sector of Johns Hopkins Medicine, which includes the renowned Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The tool, launched in 2005, is used by more than 100 hospitals worldwide, according to the Johns Hopkins Nursing website.

As a leading provider of electronic health records to the LTC industry, MatrixCare will embed the Johns Hopkins Fall Risk Assessment Tool into its Clinical Coach and Clinical Guardian decision support products.

In a press statement, John Damgaard, MatrixCare President and CEO, said, "We are honored that Johns Hopkins is licensing their fall prevention checklist to MatrixCare. [These] are the first and only clinical decision support tools built into an LTPAC [long-term and post-acute care] EHR to reduce costs and re-hospitalizations, mitigate risks and, more importantly, provide superior care and better outcomes."
