MatrixCare add EHR interfaces for therapy data
MatrixCare has released a new development kit to incorporate therapy data into the electronic health record (EHR). The application programming interfaces capture critical data elements for billing therapy services and documenting therapy care across the care continuum, including therapy minutes, progress notes, discharge evaluations and even therapist certifications, says David Sims, product manager for interoperability at MatrixCare. The toolkit, the latest addition to the company's Connections program, brings third-party therapy services data into the fold for EHR-generated billing codes.
"Facilities used to have to contact the therapy company to get that data," Sims says. "Now we can pull all that right into the EHR."
Soon, the toolkit also will facilitate the exchange of therapy minutes for the COT (change of therapy) scheduler and will import therapy diagnosis codes into the resident record while automatically populating Section O of the MDS system, Sims adds.
The therapy data toolkit is latest addition to the company's Connections program, which also includes interfaces for ADT export, electronic prescribing, vitals data, admissions, bed assignments and labor management.
