Long-term care-related comedy to air on HBO
Following in the footsteps of the Netflix on-demand show “Derek,” which became available in September, cable network HBO will debut a six-episode long-term care-related show Nov. 24.
“Getting On” will chronicle the lives of a “ragtag crew” caring for elderly women at a California hospital’s extended care unit “while dealing with the challenges of a healthcare bureaucracy in need of an overhaul.” Also similar to “Derek,” which premiered on British television, the HBO show is based on a BBC series of the same name.
The U.S. show, promoted as “blending outrageous humor with unexpected moments of tenderness,” will star “Roseanne” veteran Laurie Metcalf, Niecy Nash of “Reno 911!” Mel Rodriguez of “Community” and Alex Borstein, voice of Lois Griffin on “Family Guy,” among others. It will air 10 to 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
HBO’s website has preview clips.
