LeadingAge exec appointed to IOM health policy board

LeadingAge Senior Vice President Robyn Stone, DrPH, has been appointed to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Board on Health Sciences Policy. Stone is also the executive director at the LeadingAge Center for Applied Research.

Stone's appointment runs through Dec. 31, 2017. She was selected as a member of the IOM in 2014. "I was honored last year to be elected to the Institute of Medicine and to become one of the few IOM members who is affiliated with the field of long-term care services," Stone said in a press release. "Now I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get involved in helping the IOM foster vigorous health research and promote the critical role that research can play in the development of health policy."

Stone has devoted more than 35 years of service to long-term care research and aging policy, previously serving the White House as deputy assistant secretary for disability, aging and long-term care policy.

"Dr. Stone is one of the preeminent social scientists in the world, and this appointment is a reflection of her dedication to improving health policy and making this world a better place for growing old," Larry Minnix, LeadingAge president and CEO said in a press release. "I think the entire field of aging services is excited to see what Dr. Stone accomplishes with the IOM over the next couple of years."
