LeadingAge CAST updates EHR selection tools
The LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) has expanded its electronic health record (EHR) matrix with information on additional IT system products and has enhanced its online selection tools. The new portfolio also includes six new case studies on medication management technologies and other EHR features.
The online product matrix and selection tools are designed to help long-term care providers evaluate and choose the best EHR systems for their needs. Information on system features and capabilities, certifications and regluatory assessments, third-party system interfaces, interoperability and other factors can assist providers in weighing the capabilities of various systems, while the case studies provide valuable user feedback on real-life implementation and customer experiences.
“[This] electronic health record (EHR) selection portfolio has proven extremely useful in helping long-term care providers understand the various features and functionality of a number EHR systems," said Majd Alwan, PhD, executive director of CAST. “This new update makes the tools even more valuable to those in aging services by identifying whether or not the the various EHR systems implement ICD-10 codes inherently to comply with new regulations, and if they need to use an external coding clearinghouse to achieve compliance.”
