Glucose monitoring system launches for smart phones

The Dexcom G4 Platinum Continuous Glucose Monitoring System with Share uses a secure Bluetooth connection and a smartphone app to transmit glucose information directly to a corresponding app on the designated recipients' mobile devices.

By being able to receive this data wirelessly, the recipient—such as a healthcare provider or family member—can remotely monitor glucose levels and receive alert notifications.

Currently available at no charge for the iPhone and iPod touch, the monitoring system will soon be available for Android devices as well.
