Get connected this National Assisted Living Week

It’s that time of year again. Time to remember those who have served and recognize their caregivers through special activities and events to commemorate National Assisted Living Week.

“With the wave of baby boomers soon needing our services, we’re dealing with a new generation of consumers who are demanding high tech with high touch,” said Scott Tittle, executive director of the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), which has sponsored the week since 1995, in a press release. “National Assisted Living Week allows us to celebrate the innovative techniques assisted living providers are finding to better serve our nation’s seniors.”

This year’s theme is “Keep Connected” in recognition of the opportunities for technology to enhance the care and overall experience in assisted living communities and growing resident interest.  In 2005, 2 percent of older adults used social media. In 2015, 35 percent of odler adults used social media, according to the Pew Research Center’s report, “Social Media Usage: 2005-2015.”
