Elder abuse is online forum focus this week
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) are holding a VetoViolence forum on Facebook this week to share information and answer questions about elder abuse prevention in advance of Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which is June 15.
The forum will present strategies that can be used by healthcare professionals working with older adults, public health professionals, violence prevention professionals, family caregivers and others. Visitors to the page also can post questions, which will be answered by experts from the CDC or NCEA.
The forum is accessible at www.facebook.com/VetoViolence. The CDC has posted additional elder abuse prevention resources on its website at www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/elderabuse/index.html.
The NCEA is one of 27 resource centers funded by the Administration on Aging of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
