EFA: From the eyes of a returning attendee

I have had the opportunity to attend Environments for Aging the past five years or so. It is by far the most valuable conference I attend during the year as an architect and designer within the senior living world. I look forward to being inspired and challenged by the likes of Lorraine Hiatt, Maggie Calkins, David Green, Elizabeth Brawley, Amy Carpenter, Andrew Alden, and many more.

There are so many sessions and learning opportunities that by the end of the three days, I’ll be exhausted. As in past years, my response won’t be “When will this session be over;” rather, it’s more like “This session is over already?”

Over and above the presentations, the opportunity to network with other architects, interior designers, providers, regulators, and vendor representatives is actually the most valuable aspect of this conference. I have met some incredibly passionate people who are driven to improve the environments that we all create for the greatest generation (and beyond). Their stories, the obstacles they are overcoming, and the amazing outcomes that their designs and environments are producing are really what draw me back each and every year.

Finally … experiencing spring in Atlanta will be a nice change from winter in Omaha. Hope to connect with you at EFA11 this year!
