Eden Alternative gets closer to home
The Eden Alternative has partnered with Homewatch CareGivers International to create an online training program based on Eden’s certified Eden at Home Associate training series.
Through the partnership, Homewatch CareGivers, a caregiver agency with more than 225 locations in six countries, will be able to provide its caregivers with strategies to support the continued growth and development of the older adults in their care, rather than simply attending to their clinical or immediate needs.
The program includes 11 interactive webinars based on the Eden philosophy of person-directed care, but tailored for those who are delivering care at home or within a home-based community. Care coordination, collaborative care planning and resident involvement in care decisions are at the core of the program.
"Even someone's home can feel like an institution," said Eden Alternative Co-Founder and geriatrician Dr. Bill Thomas, in a press announcement. "Person-directed care changes this by putting the individual first. By focusing on the relationship before the task, we can begin to eliminate loneliness, helplessness and boredom for everyone involved in the care partnership."
Certified Eden at Home Associate Training Online is available exclusively to Homewatch CareGivers through the end of 2014.
