Design 2011 Citation of Merit Winners
Welcome to DESIGN's 2011 Citation of Merit winners' showcase. This year we present five outstanding senior living and long-term care projects that were named “the best of the best” by our panel of 16 esteemed jurors which included interior designers, architects, providers, and educators. The top honor, Best of Show, was conferred on Willson Hospice House, Albany, Georgia. The contest entry and judging process is rigorous and demands the kind of focus and attention to detail that's not dissimilar to the design process itself. After two days of careful review of each submission and much lively discussion, a Best of Show winner was declared, along with with four Citation of Merit winners. These projects represent the highest ideals of senior living and resident-focused architecture and design being practiced today.
Our congratulations as well as those of our DESIGN co-sponsors, The Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), The Center for Health Design, and The American Society of Interior Designers, to Perkins+Will, Willson Hospice House; Lizard Rock Designs, LLC, Casitas on East Broadway; Hoffman, LLC, Eden Rehabilitation Suites and Eden Green House® Homes; Runberg Architecture Group, Merrill Gardens at The University; and CJMW Architecture, Penick Village Garden Cottage. We have also included entries our jurors picked as Honorable Mentions and the standout features that garnered them special recognition.
