Brookdale to expand memory care wings in Georgia facilities

Brookdale Senior Living is investing $9.5 million to expand memory care offerings in two Georgia facilities in response to diagnosis estimates.

The Alzheimer’s Association predicts 190,000 people living in Georgia will have the disease in 2025 compared to 130,000 people at present, an increase of 46 percent.

“Behind these numbers are seniors and families in need of high-quality care and support,” says Reg Strickland, executive director of Brookdale Roswell in a news release. “In expanding the dementia care programming available in Roswell, we seek to help more individuals and their loved ones confronting this issue.”

Brookdale Roswell is building an $8 million single-story building to accommodate 36 people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in 34 apartments.

Brookdale Historic Roswell is spending $1.5 million to dedicate an entire floor to memory care that will increase the number of apartments from 19 to 34. Renovations also include a new salon and an expanded dining room, Internet center and library.
