Brookdale announces new executive leadership
Brookdale Senior Living has named Cedric T. Coco as its executive vice president and chief people officer.
Coco was vice president of human resources at Lowe’s Company, Inc., where he has worked in various roles since 2008. Previously, he worked for nearly 20 years in business leadership, human resources and organization performance at Microsoft Corporation, KLA-Tencor Corporation and General Electric Company.
“Cedric’s deep experience within the human resources function in companies with a distributed workforce, as well as his mix of business management and retail knowledge, will provide Brookdale with the leadership we need to improve our ability to attract, retain and develop our associates,” said Brookdale President and CEO Andy Smith in a press release.
Coco replaces Glenn Maul, who announced earlier this year he would step down in July. The company’s appointment continues its trend of tapping senior leadership from outside the long-term care industry—and the latest since its 2014 merger with Emeritus. Last year, Brookdale appointed Labeed Diab, former Walmart executive, as chief operating officer and Lucinda (Cindy) Baier, former board of directors for The Bon Ton Stores Inc., as chief financial officer.
