APIC kicks off ‘Infection Prevention and You’ campaign
In conjunction with International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), Oct. 20–26, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) introduces its new education and awareness campaign, “Infection Prevention and You.”
The campaign features a new website that offers tips and advice for families and their roles in preventing infection. For healthcare professionals who are not infection preventionists, basic information is provided to help keep residents safe. An infographic illustrates (1) how everyone can be a key player in the effort to minimize infections, (2) the role of an infection preventionist, and (3) an explanation of healthcare-associated infections.
“Our goal is to disseminate this information on a broad scale. We’d like to see the infographic posted in every patient care area and included in every hospital admission packet,” says Carol Mclay, RN, MPH, DrPH, CIC, chair of APIC’s Communications Committee, in a release.
