And the best state to retire is…

No big surprises here. Seniors want to retire where it’s warm or where there’s room to roam.

Personal finance website WalletHub had analysts crunch the numbers to find the best place to retire.  Analysts compared data from the 50 states and District of Columbia across 24 key metrics—including life expectancy, adjusted cost of living, property crime rate and museums per capita—to create retirement-friendly state rankings.

The top five overall rankings for best place to retire are:

1. Florida
2. Wyoming
3. South Dakota
4. South Carolina
5. Colorado

Analysts weighted affordability, quality of life and healthcare to create the list. Multiple data sets were collected to create the list, including data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Census Bureau and the Retirement Living Information Center.
