AAPACN launches LTC education foundation
The American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN), the parent organization of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC) and the American Association of Directors of Nursing Services (AADNS), announces the establishment of the Long-Term Care Nursing Education Foundation.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization providing nursing scholarships for higher education and funding academic research grants in the area of evidence-based nursing practice.
“I consider nursing a sacred stewardship. To the beneficiary, the nurse is a refuge of trust and competence,” explains the chair of the Foundation’s board of directors, Susan Duong, RN, BSN, PHN, NHA, DNS-CT, RAC-CT. “Through the Foundation, we hope to elevate the lives of the caregiver and those who have entrusted their lives in the caregiver's hands.”
At the AANAC Annual Conference in May, the Foundation will award the Cheryl M. Thomas Scholarship. The recipient of this scholarship will receive $5,000 toward a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. “By providing nursing scholarships, we hope to give individuals the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in nursing practice,” Duong says. “In the form of grants, we hope to contribute to the advancement of care delivery for post-acute and long-term care residents.”
