Small businesses face year delay in using federal health insurance website
The online health insurance exchange for small-business owners will not be ready until late 2014, mainstream media outlets are reporting. The timing, a year later than expected, will enable the government to continue working on the exchange website.
For now, small employers wishing to enroll in medical plans through the new federal marketplace will need to go through an insurance company, agent or broker instead of using Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) portion of the government website, https://www.healthcare.gov/, according to the Washington Post website, citing officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other sources.
