Report examines state legislatures’ 2012 impact on the assisted living industry

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) has released the 2012 State Regulatory & Legislative Snapshot, a complete state-by-state review of regulatory and legislative activity generated in 2012. The report, which covers all 50 states and the District of Columbia, highlights the activities of state legislatures and regulatory agencies that impact assisted living businesses.

In Maryland, for example, a new regulation allows a spouse or partner to administer medication.  And in the state of Washington, a law was enacted to change the term from “boarding home” to “assisted living facility.”

The report provides a post-election summary of changes in the complexion of governorships and state legislatures, along with pre- and post-election party majorities.
