Sunrise CEO Ordan Travels to Facility in Light of Abuse Investigation

Sunrise Senior Living CEO Mark Ordan has travelled to Haverford, Pennsylvania, to the company’s The Quadrangle community in response to a police investigation, the company said in a statement.

Two facility staff members have been arrested for allegedly abusing a 78-year-old female resident with dementia. More arrests are expected, according to news reports citing police.

The violence was caught on a hidden camera installed by the resident’s family members after they had suspected abuse. “The 12-minute video that was captured in late March also shows the woman’s shirt being ripped off of her and as the 78-year-old is naked from the waist down, the victim tries to covers herself up and leave the room,” NBC Philadelphia reported.

“We are taking these allegations very seriously,” according to the Sunrise statement. “Our number one concern, above all else, is the safety of our residents. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that address their welfare and are intended to prevent any inappropriate activity in our community.”
