NFL to Pay LTC Insurance Premiums for Alumni
The NFL has agreed to pay long-term care insurance premiums for retired players, according to a league announcement. The agreement was signed with Transamerica Life Insurance Company and will cover the premium for those who are eligible retirees.
“A group of retired players began petitioning the NFL and the Players Association in October for long-term care benefits, a component of NFL Alumni’s Campaign 2011,” according to an NFL news announcement. “Martin and other alumni including Mike Ditka and Mike Haynes instituted a letter campaign, visits to Congress, and public awareness in support of long-term health insurance benefits.”
