“Peter brings to Pioneer Network an impressive background in association leadership, advancement of person-directed care initiatives and research in aging,” said Megan Hannan, president of Pioneer Network’s board of directors, in a release.
Reed has served as president and CEO for the Center for Health Improvement since 2009. He was recently appointed to the board of directors of the American Society on Aging and was elected to the Executive Committee of the Sacramento County Adult and Aging Commission in January 2011.
Previously, Reed worked with the Alzheimer’s Association National Office for five years, eventually serving as senior director of Programs, where he was responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of numerous community programs. Reed helped develop and launch the “Quality Care Campaign,” a nationwide initiative to improve the quality of care provided to people with dementia in nursing homes and assisted living residences.
“I am very impressed by the work of Pioneer Network and its commitment to fundamentally reshaping the way society thinks about older adults,” said Reed in a release. “This is a commitment that I share, and a cause about which I am very passionate.”
Reed holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. He is also a Fellow at the UNC Institute on Aging.
