Will you be applying principles of sustainable or “green” design to long-term care projects and, if so, how?
There are a number of ways that “green” design can be incorporated into long-term care projects: utilization of gray water or well water for landscape irrigation; geothermal HVAC systems and solar panel electricity production can reduce demand on public utilities; and green products can be used in floorings, ceiling tile, paint, wallcovering, and wood cabinetry. The industry is still undergoing an adjustment in the realm of green design. As residents’ tastes and values change, particularly with the near-future entry of baby boomers, green design will become more of a focus.
