A thing of beauty is a $230,000 joy forever

Perhaps English Romantic poet John Keats said it first, or at least best:

“A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:

Its lovliness increases; it will never

Pass into nothingness;”

Now in a new book, “Beauty Pays: Why Attractive People Are More Successful,” University of Texas professor Daniel S. Hamermesh has decided to prove the point. He’s no Keats, but his research reveals that attractive workers make an average of $230,000 more over a lifetime than the less attractive.

I was relieved to hear this, as it totally explains the $230,000 that was mysteriously missing the last time I attempted to balance my checking account. And since he seems to think that perhaps “ugly” people need legal protection, I definitely plan to sue.
