The comfort of bedside dialysis

When a resident requires dialysis, it can be an emotional and logistical nightmare. Not only does the resident have the inconvenience and discomfort of being transferred to the site, facility staff have to get the resident ready and arrange for transport.

The Bedside Dialysis Program offered by Choice Rehab Care, a skilled nursing and rehab facility in Sun City West, Ariz., provides comfort and maintains daily continuity for its residents. “There are not many options for bedside dialysis in Phoenix and we are thrilled to provide this program to our residents and the community,” says Paul Friedlan, owner of Choice Rehab Care.

Because the program features advanced equipment and a highly trained nursing staff, trips to a traditional dialysis center can be eliminated. Bedside dialysis reduces interruptions in the resident’s daily life—activities, meals and care. A certified nephrologist directs the multidisciplinary approach the facility offers. When a resident’s blood needs to be mechanically purified, the process is performed in a comfortable homelike environment.

Friedlan adds: “To ensure our patients receive the best care possible, we provide private rooms, 24-hour care from a registered nurse and access to our skilled staff of physical therapists in addition to our bedside dialysis care.”

Senior Sainthood
