AANAC, AADNS founder and CEO to retire in 2018

Diane Carter, MSN, RN, RAC-CT, DNS-CT, FAAN, founder, president and CEO, of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC) and the American Association of Directors of Nursing Services(AADNS) has announced her plan to retire from the associations in April 2018, after leading both associations since their inceptions in 1999 and 2016, respectively.

The AANAC and AADNS Board of Directors will begin a search for Carter’s successor to ensure a seamless leadership transition. Carter’s decision to retire caps a remarkable career that includes being inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2014 and being named one of long-term care’s 10 most influential people of the past 40 years by I Advance Senior Care magazine (formerly Long-Term Living) in 2007.

“It has been the most amazing gift a person could ask for to serve those who live and work in nursing homes,” Carter says. “We’ll do everything in our power to ensure a successful transition in leadership for these wonderful associations so that LTC nurses will continue to feel supported in their everyday work life and residents continue to receive the care, concern, and heart-felt love LTC nurses provide each and every day across this country.”
