Clinical app for diabetes goes commercial
WellDoc wants to help more people be well.
The digital health company has partnered with Samsung Electronics to bring its newly-released consumer diabetes health app, BlueStar C, to market. The app will be added to the recently launched Samsung Health, a mobile marketplace for health and fitness, and integrated with its line of smart watches and fitness trackers.
“Our enhanced partnership with WellDoc gives us an opportunity to serve global consumers, who we believe are ready to embrace the combined health innovations that our companies plan to offer,” said Suntae Jung, vice president of Services R&D Team at Samsung Mobile Communications Business in a press release.
BlueStar C uses the same decision support engine and analytics to help people manage type 2 diabetes as the company’s FDA-cleared BlueStar platform. BlueStar C offers many of the same clinical features to help people manage type 2 daibetes but on a more personal level. The consumer version offers individualized, real-time support for users in their day-to-day diabetes self-care, including easy tracking of blood glucose readings, food, medications, physical activity and sleep; videos and other resources to help improve daily lifestyle choices; and a progress report that can be shared with family members or healthcare teams.
