AMDA announces new leadership
The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA) has announced its 2017-18 board of directors.
Heidi White, MD, MHS, MEd, CMD, will serve as the Society’s 2017-18 President. She is associate professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics and a senior fellow at the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. She has spent nearly 20 years as a medical director at Croasdaile Village Retirement Community in Durham, North Carolina.
She will work to include assisted living and Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), embrace technology, update clinical practice guidelines for bedside tools, support physicians and other practitioners and share best practices for quality care and examples of innovation.
“We are at our best not when we provide services, but when we provide experiences of caring,” White said at AMDA’s annual conference earlier this month in Phoenix, Arizona. “Each of us matters in this organization. Let’s work to enrich the experiences of our patients and their families.”
