The pony express: Valentine’s Day edition
The pony express is making a comeback at one nursing home.
Michael, a 21-year-old miniature horse, trotted into Whispering Pines Lodge nursing home Saturday in Longview, Texas, with a mane of bows and saddlebag of cards.
Michael, handler Kathleen Adams and volunteers from Miracle Weaver Ministry helped deliver homemade Valentine’s cards to residents. Children from four area churches made several hundred cards.
“Some of the people that we took Valentine’s to yesterday said ‘We are so happy that somebody cared enough to bring a Valentine’s card,’” Adams says to the Longview News-Journal.
Resident Marie Butler was googly-eyed for Michael.
“Oh, he’s sweet!” she said. “He’s so cute!”
