AHCA/NCAL names Vincent Mor, PhD, Champion of Quality
The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) has named Vincent Mor, PhD, as the 2016 recipient of the Mary K. Ousley Champion of Quality Award, which honors significant contributions to quality improvement in long-term and post-acute care.
Mor [pictured, right] is director of the Center for Long-Term Care Quality & Innovation Center and professor of health services, policy and practice at Brown University. He has spent years researching senior care delivery, especially in skilled nursing facilities. He helped build the resident assessment tools and quality measures in the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and studied rehospitalization rates in nursing homes.
“His collaborative efforts have transformed technical, scientific data into important real-life quality improvement resources that have proven essential for our profession by giving us the tools to examine state and federal policies in the clinical assessments of long term care residents,” said Mary K. Ousley, AHCA Quality Cabinet Co-Chair, in the award announcement.
The annual award was renamed after Mary Ousley, a licensed nursing home administrator and nurse, in 2011.
