Nursing home pageant celebrates beauty at every age
Here she comes, Ms. Nursing Home.
Faye Moses, 100, of Golden LivingCenters in Maryville, Mo., has been crowned District 2 Ms. Nursing Home. District winners are eligible to attend the state pageant later this summer at the annual Missouri Health Care Association (MHCA).
“We hold this event to acknowledge those living in our facilities and what a great life they have,” says MHCA District 2 President Paul Pottier to the Maryville Daily Forum. “What a great opportunity we’re given today for them to share their lives with us.”
Thirteen women from northwestern Missouri donned their formal attire at the Maryville Community Center Friday for the pageant. All were awarded trophies, and the winner and two runners-up were given red roses and a tiara, too.
The event is a chance for contestants to share their life story through the interview portion of the contest and be pampered. Most importantly, it gives them a reason to smile.
“You just look out and everyone’s smiling,” Lutz added. “It’s nothing but big, toothy grins.”
