2013 Women’s Choice Award of America’s Best Nursing Homes announced
WomenCertified® created the Women’s Choice Awards to recognize those businesses and brands that meet women’s need and that women recommend. In the category of America’s Best Nursing Homes, 172 facilities were recognized.
The honorees were selected through a process based on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid’s Five-Star Quality Rating System, focusing on three major categories: healthcare inspections, nurse staffing and quality of care. In addition, women’s preferences, priorities and satisfaction also were factored into determining the winners.
An American Academy of Family Physicians’ study found that women make nearly all of the healthcare decisions for themselves and their aging parents. The winners “exemplify facilities who meet the toughest standards of excellence set by women,” according to a release.
“We are proud of those facilities recognized for taking ownership of their patient experience and creating an environment that offers the best in healthcare services. We congratulate our winning nursing homes for having earned the trust of our country’s most significant consumer groups,” said Delia Passie, founder of Medelia, the training, consulting and research firm that helped to create WomenCertified.
