Emeritus takes over operations at 38 former Merrill Gardens communities
Emeritus Corp., Seattle, has gained leasing rights to 38 communities formerly run by Merrill Gardens, also headquartered in Seattle. The communities represent approximately 4,400 units, almost half of which are independent living spaces.
HealthCare REIT, which had shared ownership of the properties with Merrill Gardens, will buy out Merrill’s 20 percent share in the properties, then lease the properties to Emeritus, according to a corporate press release.
The latest Merrill deal brings Emeritus’ total reach to more than 500 communities in 45 states.
